Dr Mattias Heinrich wins best thesis award

Many congratulations to Dr Mattias Heinrich (St Hilda’s College), from the Department of Engineering Science, for winning the British Machine Vision Association and Society for Pattern Recognition (BMVA) Sullivan Thesis Prize for the best UK PhD thesis in Computer Vision.

Dr Mattias HeinrichEvery year, the BMVA awards a prize for the best thesis out of those brought to its attention as having been examined in the previous calendar year. Dr Mattias Heinrich has been awarded the prize for 2014 for his thesis, "Deformable lung registration for pulmonary image analysis of MRI and CT scans".

Dr Heinrich was at the CRUK/EPSRC Cancer Imaging Centre at Oxford, working under the supervision of Professor Julia Schnabel, Professor Mark Jenkinson and Professor Sir Mike Brady, before becoming Junior Chair at the Institute of Medical Informatics at the University of Luebeck in Germany.
