Therapeutic applications of microbubbles have led to an increased demand for effective targeting strategies. Magnetic targeting is one approach investigated for this purpose and has proved to enhance the delivery of a variety of therapeutic molecules.
The paper focuses on how functionalising phospholipid microbubbles with iron oxide nanoparticles affects their stability, acoustic response and magnetic trapping efficiency.
Estelle is a DPhil student at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation. Her research is supervised by Professor Eleanor Stride and is supported by the Research Council UK Digital Economy Programme through the grant EP/G036861/1 (Oxford Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation).
