Biomedical Measurement & Modelling

Modelling plays a key role in interpreting measurements of physiological phenomena. Our work focusses on areas such as dynamics, solid and fluid mechanics, and heat and mass transfer, all of which play a central role in a number of clinical and biological applications, ranging from drug delivery to the onset of stroke to orthopaedic surgery. We apply advanced signal/image analysis and a range of mathematical and biomechanical models, ranging from the micrometre scale to the whole body, to better understand data from clinical measurements of quantities such as heart rate and lower-limb motion.
