Estelle BeguinAcademic Background

Estelle graduated from Northeastern University (USA) in 2014 with a BSc in Chemical Engineering. During this first degree, she worked at several biotech companies in the Boston area including Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb and BIND Therapeutics.

In addition to industrial experience, Estelle worked as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Shashi Murthy’s Biological Surface Engineering and Microfluidics Laboratory. The research project she contributed to was the differentiation of adult mesenchymal stem cells towards chondrogenic lineage using microfluidic shear stimulation.

In October 2014, Estelle joined the Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation at the University of Oxford and Wolfson College. She then started her doctoral research in October 2015 under the supervision of Professor Eleanor Stride, focusing on the development of oxygen microbubbles for sonodynamic therapy of hypoxic tumours.
