David is IBME Workshop Technician and has a wide knowledge and skills base developed from his previous employment and currently within the IBME.

David commenced his career with an apprenticeship at Smiths Industries Hydraulics working on CNC milling and turning machines, conventional milling/turning, spark eroders and grinding machines, eventually becoming Turning Section Supervisor. He then joined Ortho Europe as Milling and Turning Supervisor/Programmer, working on prosthetics for amputees and was involved in making the prototypes of the Oxford Knee.

From there, David joined Oxford Engineering as Programmer/Setter before joining Menards Competition Technologies who produced engines for a wide range of competition vehicles including F1 type and super car engines.

In 2009, David joined the IBME at the University of Oxford as Workshop Technician. Together with Jim Fisk (Head of IBME Workshop), the IBME Workshop offers academics and students a consultation and advice service, together with expertise in manufacturing advice and design in a wide range of materials.
