Success of Headstart for Sixth Formers continues

This year the Department of Engineering Science ran its 17th Headstart residential course for sixth formers from throughout the UK. The programme included practical problem-solving activities, team projects, industrial site visits, lectures and tours of laboratories. On their last evening, Headstart students attended a gala dinner at Hertford College.

Sloane Robinson scholars' report on their MSc research

This year’s two Sloane Robinson scholars, Marisol Martinez Alanis (St Catherine’s College) and Qian Cheng (St Hilda’s College), recently met with Mr George Robinson at the Department of Engineering Science prestigious Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture. They are now nearing the completion of their MSc in Biomedical Engineering and give an insight into their research projects…

New report on "Engineering evidence for safer medical devices"

On 19th June, Professor Lionel Tarassenko CBE FREng FMedSci, from the Department of Engineering Science, gave the keynote lecture at the Royal Academy of Engineering event on "Innovation in medical technologies". At this event a new report was launched: "Engineering evidence for safer medical devices".

Two Engineering Science Professors awarded the OBE

Congratulations to both Professor Peter Dobson and Professor Alison Noble, who have been awarded an OBE in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours List in recognition of their services to Engineering Science.
