Market Research Project Abstracts
The aim of the 4-week project is to enable students to look at a piece of existing Intellectual Property and to evaluate its commercial potential. This will enable them to put into practice some of the things they have learned on the entrepreneurship and business skills modules and to prepare them to think about intellectual property issues during their DPhils. The market research project may, for instance, start from a patent filing, and involve performing a patent-search on related material, reading F&S industry sector reports on potential new markets and competition, and talking with the inventors or clinicians (end users). The output is a short write-up describing findings and market opportunities. The projects are led by industry/business partners, with an academic acting as a second supervisor.
