Tom graduated with an MPhys Physics degree from the University of York in 2014, specialising in Computational Modelling of Low Temperature Plasmas for Biomedical Applications. He was then awarded a position on the NHS Scientist Training Programme at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH), with the Department of Clinical Engineering. He undertook an MSc at King's College, London at the same time, which was co-supervised by Prof. David Clifton, and which developed systems for tracking equipment in complex hospital environments.
Tom is now a doctoral student at Balliol College and a Research Assistant in CHI Lab.
Tom's work focuses on developing AI-based systems for improving the management of the hospital. This work answers directly to the Executive Board of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and builds on Tom's combined expertise in biomedical engineering and clinical engineering.
